You should know a few things about nuts before you make almond butter.  Different nuts have different amounts of natural oils, which changes how easy they are to turn into butter.

 Because they have more fatty acids than other nuts, peanuts, cashews, and macadamia nuts are great for making nut butter.  There is a little less oil in pecans.

 You’ll need four things to make this fresh nut butter recipe:

 Still raw nuts:  To bring out their nutty taste, we’ll roast them in the oven.  This process also makes it easier for them to mix.

 You will need a food processor or high-speed mixer to make nut butter that is smooth and creamy.

 Salt from the sea:  In case you don’t want to add salt to the nut butter, you can leave this out. But I think you should.  It gives the almond butter you make a deeper, more interesting taste.

 If you really need it, an oil that doesn’t taste bad!  My home-made nut butter looks dry and isn’t getting smooth. Adding a little oil will help it get smooth again.

 To make almond nut butter, do these things.

 To make it easier to mix, add a little oil (I like olive oil) to the raw nuts.

 First, roast the nuts to bring out their natural oils.  This is the choice I usually make.

 What are the things that are used to make almond butter?

 Things used:  3 cups of raw almonds; avocado oil or, if not available, grapeseed oil or another oil with a bland flavor

 HOW TO DO IT:

 Make sure the oven is heated to 350 degrees before you start.  Place the almonds on a big baking sheet with a rim. Roast them for 10 minutes, turning them once before the end of the time.

 Set the nuts aside for about ten minutes to cool down. They should be just beginning to get warm, not hot.

 3. Put the nuts into a mixer or food processor and blend or process them quickly.

 Blend until smooth, stopping every so often to scrape down the sides.  It will look like it will never mix, but it will!

 The almonds will start out as clumps that look like flour. They will then form a ball against the side of the food processor. If necessary, break up the ball and scrape down the edges. The almonds will then turn lusciously creamy.

 If the blend gets too hot during the process, stop and let it cool for a few minutes.

 Other things can be added after the almond butter is very smooth and thick, but not before.

 You can add sugar, maple syrup, or both to the almond butter to make it taste better.

 5. Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth.  I had to let the mixture cool down after adding the maple syrup and then blend it for a few minutes to make it smooth again.

 6. Move the nut butter to a glass jar and seal it all the way up once it has hit room temperature.

 There is almond butter for $8.71 a pound and raw almonds without salt for $6.

 Peanut butter costs $14.78 a pound, and raw walnuts without salt cost $7.46.

 Dry-roasted nuts without salt cost $4.06 a pound, and peanut butter costs $4.42 a pound.

 Raw cashews cost $8 a pound, and cashew butter costs $17 a pound.

 These price differences are for nut butters that only have salt and nuts as their main ingredients.

 Keep in mind that nuts might be cheaper at the grocery store near you.

 That’s a lot less than what you’d pay on Amazon. At the bulk bin store near me, peanuts cost about $2 a pound.

 It might surprise you to learn that almond butter from the store isn’t always more expensive than this one.

 By comparing prices per ounce, we can see that whole almonds cost more than almond butter.  In this case, homemade is better because of the taste, not because it costs less.

Is almond butter made from raw almonds

Yes, of course.  What are raw almonds? They are almonds that have not been roasted or cooked.

 After this step, they are also easier to put together.

 Pulse the almonds in a food processor or high-speed blender to make nut butter that is smooth and creamy.

 Sea salt: If you don’t want to add it, you can make nut butter without salt, but I really think you should.  Making almond butter by hand gives it a richer, more complex taste.

 An oil that doesn’t taste good—only use it when you have to!  If my homemade nut butter looks lumpy and won’t smooth out, I add a little oil to help it get smooth.

How long does homemade almond butter last

Raw nut butter from the store can last for months, but butter you make yourself will only last for about two weeks in the fridge.

 You can also cool things down with reused freezer packs or a bag full of block ice.  Do not put almond butter in the fridge or cooler. Instead, put it somewhere cold, dry, and dark.

 Since heat raises, a lower shelf in a closet or cabinet that is far from heat sources is a good place for it.

 But this is the best way to store almond butter:

 The best place to store almond butter is somewhere cool, out of direct sunlight and away from sources of heat.

 Always close the jar when it’s not in use.  If you put the nut butter in the fridge, it will last up to twice as long.

 This is especially important if your nut butter is homemade or doesn’t have any added preservatives.

 If you don’t use homemade almond butter within a few days, it will quickly go bad in the fridge, so it’s best to keep it there.

 I keep almond butter from the store in the pantry so I can use it right away without having to wait for it to cool.

Can you make almond nut butter in a blender

Not having a 12-cup food processor? You can still make almond butter at home with a high-speed blender like a Vitamix.

 A switch and more nuts are the only things that need to be changed.

 Once the nuts are cool, roast them like you did above. If you want to make almond butter in a mixer, start with 4 cups of nuts.  This is the very least amount that a mixer can work with.

 Cover it up and mix the nuts on medium to low speed.  To keep the nuts moving, you will have to wiggle them a lot.

 If your blender doesn’t have a stop, I don’t think this method will work.  It’s really annoying to have to stop and scrape all the time.

 Many people think that using a high-speed blender is faster than using a food processor, but it took my blender six or seven minutes to make the texture thick.

 This method is faster by one minute, but you still need to use your hands a little more than the food machine way.

 So, if you have one, a food processor is my favorite tool for making this dish.

 Ingredients: 4 cups (600 g) roasted almonds without salt

 Following the steps, put the ingredients in the Vitamix jar in the correct order and then tightly cover it.

 Start by setting the blender to its slowest speed, and then quickly raise it to its fastest setting.

 With the tamper, you can push the items into the blades.

 In one minute, there will be a high-pitched chugging sound.  The motor’s sound will change, becoming slow and low, as the butter starts to flow easily through the blades.  Put the thing away.

 Keep in a jar that can’t be opened.  It can also be frozen to make it last longer.

 Remember that if the blender is having trouble breaking down the roasted almonds, you can speed up the process by adding a tablespoon of neutral-flavored oil.

Final thought

Here is a simple recipe for almond butter that only needs one main item and some patience on your part.  Of course, the most delicious almond butter you’ve ever eaten will be your prize for all your hard work.

 On the other hand, you should throw away your almond butter or any other kind of nut butter if it shows any of the following signs.

 There will be a strong, sour taste at first, and if it has gone bad, you will smell something like nail polish remover.

 Additionally, almond butter is not good if it has a thick bottom layer that can’t be mixed back together.

 A small layer of oil on the top is normal, but something that looks like rock is a sign that it’s going bad.

 Third, keep an eye out for mold growth, even though it’s not possible.  If you see fuzzy growth or black spots on the top of the jar, it’s best to throw it away.
